Missions

We are committed to tithing our donations to support ministries which feed the hungry, help the oppressed, and preach the Gospel - both locally and globally.  Here are some of the organizations that we regularly support.

Canadian Baptist of Western Canada

Formerly The Baptist Union of Western Canada, The Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC) is a family of Baptist churches in the Yukon, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.  With 178 churches and more than 20,000 members across Western Canada, the CBWC is one of the most culturally, ethnically and geographically diverse denominations in Canada.  Committed to Biblical authority, we believe the good news of the gospel message unites salvation and compassion, evangelism and justice, and that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to reconcile the world to Jesus Christ. http:/www.cbwc.ca

Our gifts support:

Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM)  http://cbmin.org/cbm/home

Carey Theological College http://www.careycentre.com/

Church planting, leadership training and much more.

The Sharing Way

CBM's relief and development agency, works with local partner organizations on several continents to mobilize grassroot communities for self-reliance and social justice.  http:/www.thesharingway.org/cbmin/

Rwanda

We are STEP ministry partners with Association des Eglises Baptistes du Rwanda and Canadian Baptist Ministries (2005-2008).  Our sister church is Kigali Rural which ministers to people affected by HIV/AIDS.  Pastor Jonas Bikorimana is the pastor.  It is a simple building with a rusting corrugated iron roof and flagstone floor.  We have sent two mission teams to various areas in Rwanda.  http://www.guardiansofhope.org

We are also involved in Children of Hope, a program to support the vulnerable children in Rwanda, mostly child-led households.

The Rev. Andre Mfutumukiza recently came to WVBC and spoke to us with passion about the Rwandan Government Vision 2020, wich is a reflection of their aspiration and determination to construct a united, democratic and inclusive Rwandan identify.  This presentation is available by clicking on the following links:

The Open Door Ministry

Began in North Vancouver and provides physical, emotional, and spiritual support to single Moms and their children.

The Open Door is a wonderful support group for single mothers of preschool aged children. While children take part in a licensed childcare program, moms can sit and relax with a cup of coffee, participate in a craft, eat a home cooked lunch and take part in an optional Bible study.

Please join us at Hillside Baptist Church Mondays from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
