Jane is responsible for ministry to our elementary age children and their families and offers assistance and direction for our Early Childhood volunteers. She loves to work directly with children on Sunday mornings and to partner with parents to learn and fulfill the needs of children and their families. Jane loves meeting with children where they are at and helping them encounter God in meaningful ways. She desires that whole families can worship, learn about and serve God together.
Jane is a ‘prairie to North Shore transplant’ of 25 years. She loves that her three grown children still live in the lower mainland. She gets back to Alberta on a semi-annual basis to visit her mother and brothers…and get a fix of the expanse of sky and sun.
She loves anything creative, tactile and probably messy! Jane is thankful for the creative gifts God has given her and the pleasure these pursuits bring her. Jane loves the natural world and relationships. She manages to bring both indoors and enjoy them in her little condo called home.

Hazel made West Van Baptist her home church when she moved from Richmond 25 years ago. Fulfilling a desire to be involved in Caring Ministries, Hazel took the year long training to become a Stephen Minister at our church. She currently holds the Referrals position in that program where we place Stephen Ministers with people who are experiencing difficulties and who request someone to walk alongside them for a period of time.
The Pastor asked her to facilitate the Divorce Care 13 week program 17 years ago which has been held at our church twice a year. Hazel was asked by the Pastor to join the Staff 3 years ago to fulfill the role of Pastoral Care Minister which serves in a broader sense the whole congregation. She works in tandem with the Pastor visiting and serving communion to Parishioners in their home when they are unable to attend services as well as follow up with people who need prayer.
Twenty-five years ago Hazel married Peter Zazulak. Their combined families are Hazel’s two sons, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren along with Peter’s 2 daughters and 1 grandson.
Hazel had her own Textile Agency travelling in B.C and Alberta for over 35 years selling to Fabric stores. She developed and conducted Sewing Seminars all over North America as well as authoring 2 Sewing Books, Couture Action Knits and Silks and Satins.
Hazel studied Design, Patternmaking and Haute Couture – 2 yrs. at Vancouver College. She also attended the Leadership Stephen Ministry – 1 week course in Seattle 15 years ago. In 2014 – Intense course called “How to Help a Hurting Friend” led by Rod Wilson – former President of Regent College. A step to deepen her understanding in the field that God has led her in ministry.
