West Vancouver Baptist Missions

As a church we pledge to tithe the money that is received as general donations – so ten cents of every dollar that you have given to WVBC in general donations is being used to help reach people with the gospel, or feed the hungry, or help the oppressed, through missions and ministries both locally and overseas. The Ministries we supported in 2014 are listed. We also support CBM Partners in Mission to Bolivia and East Asia. We supported two of our members through Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship.

Canadian Baptist of Western Canada (CBWC)

We support the CBWC because it represents our denominational affiliation and is thus our “home base” and our first responsibility. CBWC.ca

The Harvest Project

We support the Harvest Project because we take seriously the Biblical injunction to “feed the hungry and help those in trouble.” (Isaiah 58:10a NLT) HarvestProject.org The Harvest Project (extending a hand up, not a hand out) was begun with the vision of WVBC member David Foster in 1993. The Harvest Project reaches out to individuals and families across the North Shore who are challenged by a family break-down, illness, job loss, poverty, or other crises.

Rwanda STEP Partnership (Serving, Training, Energizing Partnerships)

In June 2018, we signed our fifth consecutive three-year STEP Agreement with Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM), the Association des Englises Baptistes au Rwanda (AEBR). http://www.cbmin.org/ We assist CBM in Rwanda by separately supporting from our missions budget Children of Hope – Rwanda – care for orphans and vulnerable children and youth and The Sharing Way – CBM’s relief and development department which works in Angola, Bolivia, El Salvador, India and Kenya, as well as in Rwanda. We support these programs because through them we are privileged to give a helping hand to some of the most materially disadvantaged communities in the world. CBMIN.org

Keats Camps

We support Keats Camps because summer camp is one of the most effective ways of reaching children and youth with the Gospel, and because Keats belongs to our Baptist “family”. KeatsCamps.com The Baptist summer camp on Keats Island began in 1926 and over the decades WVBC has had members involved in all areas of its ministry: as campers, summer staff, camp directors, office staff, and board members.
