Greetings from Pastor Axel

For Sunday: We begin a series on the Father Heart of God. It will be loosely based on a book of that title by Floyd McClung. I encourage you to read the book in conjunction with the sermons. This Sunday we will reflect on how God wants to heal our hurting hearts. I will cite many Bible verses. You can read them on our church website under sermons and then sermon outline. Dive in! We will also take some time early in the service to remember our dear friend, Halley Platt Olson, who has gone to glory. We will sing her favourite song and hear her favourite Psalm, and more. Please invite anyone who might wish to be present to join us through the tab on the church website. Also, we will record both the sermon (as usual) and the memorial time for our website if people wish to access the recording afterwards. Breakout rooms after the service for conversation will continue.

My message:

Remember the church buildings are available for small groups to meet (with COVID-19 restrictions). Existing groups or new ones can book a time and room with Toni in the church office. The small group virus response protocol is on our website.

To add your group or update the content please contact Judy at If anyone is interested in sharing their story, their struggles during COVID and how the Lord is working, or a short (2 minute) testimony for Facebook and/or the website, please contact Judy. It is an opportunity to bear witness to Jesus! Andre Sibomana has a 15-minute video update on our website. Please have a look under the NEWS tab. We will post a second installment soon.

Our church will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2024.  It was in 1924 that West Vancouver Baptist Church was formally constituted. However, the Baptist mission that led to our congregation’s formation was launched in 1921. Next year we want to acknowledge the 100th anniversary of that beginning.  To that end, we are inviting all of our creative people to come up with a project (photo, painting, song, short story, poem, crochet piece, etc.!) that celebrates our calling to be witnesses to the presence of Christ–past, present and future.  I look forward to seeing your creativity.

We march together into an autumn season that is marked by uncertainty. We acknowledge the uncertainty, but also resoundingly affirm our trust in the Lord. Praise the name of Jesus, our Rock, our Fortress, our Deliverer.
