I Believe in Jesus, What Does That Mean?

I Believe in Jesus, What does that Mean?

What does the New Testament writers mean when they talk about "believing in Christ?"

It's about believing in Jesus' authority to reign over God's Kingdom

  1. Believing in Christ is primarily about commitment and the submission of our life to Jesus as King
    • It's about turning the control centre of our lives over to him
    • It's allowing him to be in the driver's eat of our lives
    • It's about bring our will into conformity to His Lordship and the values of His Kingdom

“Why do you call me ‘Lord! Lord!’ and fail to do what I say?” said Jesus. (Luke 6:46.)

    2. Our first allegiance is to Christ, the anointed One, and His Kingdom

    3. Now here's the thing

    • Our ability to believe in Jesus is the result of Divine Revelation
    • The revelation of Jesus Christ is the only reliable bases for faith
    • My story
    • Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

In conclusion - a couple of observations

  1. Don't allow your theological differences divide us
  2. It is important that we purposely share the good news of the gospel with others

You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."
 Matthew 5:14-16 NLT
