55+ lunch, November 21, 12:00-2:00. $20.00. Fireside Room
Speaker: Byron Grant
Byron became a Christian at age 7, and from a very young age felt called to be a missionary. As a young adult, the Lord led him to work with Indigenous people. He attained a Master’s of Divinity, married, and moved with his wife, Diane, to Vancouver in 1979 to work with North American Indigenous Ministries. They worked as a team doing evangelism and discipleship with First Nations believers. They were instrumental in establishing Tillicum Native Centre, from which New Beginnings Baptist Church was a spin-off. Byron became the preaching pastor there in 1997, reaching out to the broken and hurting people, primarily First Nations, of East Vancouver.
Byron and Diane started the SAY YES! tutoring program to help the children get a good start, hoping to increase the proportion of First Nations children who stay in school. In 2015, Byron became the Senior Pastor of New Beginnings, and leads the church to the present. In May of 2024, Diane went to be with the Lord after 50 years of marriage and 45 years of ministry with Byron.
We hope you will attend to hear Byron’s story.
