Effective Mentoring
The story of Acts is a historical record of the amazing growth of the Church from Jerusalem to Judea, to Samaria, and now to the ends of the earth.
In this chapter (Acts 11) we see how Christianity broke free from its Jewish restraints and reached out to embrace the Gentile world.
Barnabas was sent by the mother church in Jerusalem to check things out in Antioch. Without Barnabas, Christianity might well have remained a sect of Judaism.
- What made Barnabas tick?
- What were the qualities of his life that made him so discerning?
- And what can we learn from him as we seek to mentor others?
Do I possess these qualities in my own life?
- He was a good man
- "Barnabas was a good man full of faith and the Holy Spirit" verse 24
- Barnabas was a man of faith
- Barnabas was a humble man
- Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So, for a whole year, Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught a great number of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch." Verses 25-26
- Barnabas was a man of grace
