Psalm 17:1-7
The Gift of God's Presence

The Gift of God's Presence

We will reflect on the Gift of God's abiding presence.  Of all God's amazing gifts, the gift of His unconditional love for each of us tops the list.

In Genesis, we read that Adam and Eve communed with God in the cool of the evening.  They walked and talked with God.  Tragically, our demand for autonomy destroyed this close and intimate relationship.

We cover our nakedness and brokenness and pretend that everything is "ok".  But it isn't.  The intimacy which our first ancestors once enjoyed with God was lost. They were banished from the garden.

Thankfully, the story doesn't end here.  God never washed His hands of us.  He never gave up on us.  He continues to peruse us.

God scaled HImself down and came to live amongst us, as the child of Bethlehem. In His death, Jesus demonstrated the depth of God's love for us by providing atonement for our sins and the way back into His presence.

We can't get to really know God if we are in a hurry.  We need to slow down. Unplug our ears. Turn off the TV, and spend time in  His presence.

In stillness, we are offered a sacrament - the knowledge of God.  Not knowledge about God. Knowledge of God.

Reflect on the benefits of spending quality time in God's presence.

  1. Joy
  2. Peace

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
