I've decided to preach on Luke 24: 13-35. Sermon title: Table Manners.
I will be exploring the Road to Emmaus story through the lens of hospitality. The hospitality extended from Cleopas and his unnamed companion, the hospitality received and extended by the stranger (Jesus) as he invites them into conversation and bible study on the road, the hospitality of Cleopas and friend inviting the stranger in for dinner and then the surprising reversal as the guest takes the place of host at the table...blessing and breaking bread and extending hospitality.
With thanksgiving coming up and people gathering around tables this theme seemed to fit well and I'm looking forward to working on the sermon today and tomorrow.
