Good morning, everyone! I hope you’re having a great week.

I’m going to keep this week’s note quite short. As I mentioned last week, I’m trying something new this fall. This year I’m going to nibble away at an old writing project. When it’s done it should be a publishable book (and I welcome thoughtful input from anyone who’s reading along and has ideas).  Since the book is designed as a Bible study guide, I’m hoping that it will also provide stimulating reading along the way for at least a few people who are interested in the subject of spiritual gifts, and perhaps even inspire a study group or two at some point. I won’t have installments every week, but am aiming to post something every couple weeks. When I do, I’ll keep these newsletter pieces short.

So this week I’ve managed to get a first installment together. It’s the introduction to the subject, focusing mostly on why the topic of spiritual gifts is important, with a preview of the kind of study that will follow.  We’re thinking about the best way to post these things on the website, but I assume it will appear in a logical place today or in the next day or two. Have a look as you have time and interest. 

Thanks for letting me work on this. I pray that it will bear good fruit in various ways, both as we go and in the longer term. 

On other fronts, a big thank-you to everyone who helped to make last Sunday’s BBQ a success. The event was lovely (and the Lord gave us very nice weather!). It was made possible by the contribution of a whole lot of folks who helped prepare, managed the details during the lunch, and worked together to clean up. Thanks to all for investing your time and energy, and to everyone who participated. I look forward to our next meal together!

This week we won’t have lunch, but we’ll still have a good time of worship on Sunday. We’re continuing our study of 1 Peter, moving on to 1:13-25, which starts us into the practical instructions that full most of the book. Have a look at the verses as you’re able.

Oh, and for those who can’t join us in person I should add that it seems we’ve got live-stream up and running again. Thanks especially to Don and Judy for their above-the-call-of-duty efforts to get things going, and to all who make our tech work each week. Prayers that things continue to work seamlessly.
