Pastor's Message - Chris Kibble

A.W. Tozer wrote: ‘has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So, one hundred worshipers met together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be, were they to become “unity” conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship’.

We’ve been kept from meeting together for quite a while. But we think we’re ready to meet together once again, so please see the announcement below. It’ll be a gradual process: for the moment, as we said a while ago, the vaccinated will be in the sanctuary and the unvaccinated in the Fireside Room. Also, though the work is done, we’re awaiting the final signoff from the city for our new washroom. We’re using new technology for the first time. But yes – we have enough to start! Really looking forward to the renewed fellowship.

Special Announcements

Re-opening: we are looking forward to welcoming you back on Sunday, November 28.  Here are the guidelines:

  • Full vaccinated worshippers will meet in the sanctuary; the unvaccinated and those vaccinated who prefer will meet in the Fireside Room.  The Farsi ministry will meet in the Stage Room.
  • Initially, there will be no refreshments after the service.
  • After the service, the vaccinated are welcome to fellowship in the foyer.  The unvaccinated may fellowship in the Fireside Room.
  • The wearing of masks is recommended.  The worship team will be allowed to worship without masks.
  • For me please use the washroom in the Christian Education wing.  Ladies may use the washroom in the Sanctuary.

Prayer Room: Please don’t use the Prayer Room. It experienced flood damage during the recent storms. You won’t be surprised to know that our insurers, who have already inspected the damage, are processing numerous claims!

Operation Christmas Child

Please drop off your finished shoeboxes at the North Shore Alliance Church before November 21.  For more information, please visit our EVENTS tab.

Festival of Lights
Dundarave Festival of Lights

One of the highlights of our church family’s Christmas Season, supported by the Church Missions Committee, is to decorate a tree as part of the Dundarave Festival of Lights.  West Vancouver Baptist “sponsors a tree” ensuring some financial and moral support for the North Shore Lookout Society, which looks after homeless people and people threatened with homelessness.

As the Festival website outlines, there’s music, beautiful lights, and more. This year we’ll decorate our tree at 4pm on Monday, November 29.  Our “Tree Committee” will provide decorations, but we invite you to contribute.  This year’s theme is “Light of the World”. We welcome something you have to hang on our tree in that theme, though please note the tree is only about 6 feet tall - so there isn’t much space. If you’d like to join us afterward, we’ll gather for a “user-pay” dinner at the Red Lion at about 5:30pm.

May His light shine bright this season - especially through the ministries of the West Vancouver Baptist family.  For contact information please call the church office.
