Message from the Pastor - Bob Bahr

“Revive us, and we will call on your name. Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.” (Psalm 80:18-19)

I can’t think of a better prayer to pray as we begin a new year. We want God to revive us, restore us, shine on us, and save us. May this be our prayer for our city, our church, our families, and our own lives.

This Sunday Dr. Ross Lockhart will be with us. Ross has been a regular contributor to our church over the last few years. His messages from God’s Word have always been well-received, challenging, and comforting. Please pray for Ross as he comes.

The following Sunday I will begin a three-part series on the subject of “Where Do We Go From Here?” I will be preaching from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and reflecting on our priorities and vision as we prepare for the future. Please read through Ephesians in preparation for this series.

My prayer for West Vancouver Baptist is that God would give us love for one another and truth from His Scripture as we dive into this topic. But most of all, as this new year begins we want Him! We want God to pour out His love upon our church family in a deeper way than ever before. Personally, I know that I am in desperate need of Him to revive me, restore me, and shine upon me.

It is a relaxed atmosphere and your questions are welcome.  We want to grow in our knowledge of Jesus together.  There will be a few special events in 2023 – stay tuned for more details.  Bring your friends, we look forward to seeing you!

The Joy of Serving God: Gifted – that’s you! Uniquely equipped to help build up the body of Christ. As a follower of Jesus Christ, serving others is an integral part of your identity and an important key to your personal growth. But how do you cultivate a servant’s heart and your spiritual gifts in ways that build up your church, your family, your friends, and your world without wiping you out in the process?

Join Pastor Chris at 9am on Sundays in the Adult Lounge from January 29 for a weekly eight-session course that will help us abide in Christ, and experience freshness and vitality that grows as we give.  The course will help you understand your gifts and you’ll discover the joy of serving with others – doing together what you cannot do alone. It will require some homework each week. The cost of hard copy materials, which will be ordered by the office, is $26, though Kindle versions are $8. Please sign up with Tracey at tracey@westvanbaptist.com or Pastor Chris at chris@westvanbaptist.com. by January 22.

Sanitation Stations:  Omicron, is the latest variant of concern.  We have established sanitation stations at all of our entrances to the sanctuary. Masks will also be provided for those who would feel more comfortable wearing one.
