Pastor's Message

The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit." (Romans 14:17) The Romans Christians were striving with one another over what they should eat or drink. The strife was causing hard feelings and threatening division.

Paul addressed the tension, reminding them about what really mattered. Christ's kingdom is not made known by squabbling over secondary issues. It is visible when we manifest "righteousness, peace, and joy." How we act is crucial in making known the love of Christ. Zeal for the Lord is good but certain ways of being zealous backfire, bringing disrepute on the Savior we love. It is crucial we treat others with respect and integrity (righteously). We maintain our cool, even when circumstances get tense (peace). We retain joy, remembering Christ's grace and love are bigger than our "issues."

If we serve Christ well, our zeal flows through these Spirit-given channels.
